Greetings!

Determined to close out the year doing what I enjoy most (driving!), yesterday I took a drive in the Legend to the mining town of Superior, Arizona.  It was about 60 miles each way.  On the way there, I pulled off US highway 60 for a few pictures at a place called Florence Junction.  Enjoy!

Many thanks to those who have followed the blog this year.  There is much more to come, so keep those seatbelts fastened and I hope you enjoy the ride in 2013 as much as I will.  I’m just getting warmed up with my travels in the 2013 Acura ILX, having logged about 24,000 miles since I got the key in June.  Meanwhile, the Legend of Legends, my 1994 LS coupe, continues its journey with regular updates to be shared here.

WordPress.com prepared a 2012 annual report for Drive to Five (link at the bottom of this post).  A few highlights follow.

Top viewing countries in 2012:

  • USA:  48,084 views
  • Canada:  5,347 views
  • Italy:  1,702 views

Every continent on the globe has visited this site at some point this year.  Here’s a shout out to those 9 folks in Nigeria!

Very special thanks to my top commenters:

  • Mom (Utah)
  • Dave (Washington)
  • Marc (New Jersey)
  • Kevin (Georgia)
  • Jeremy (Utah)

You’ve all given me the motivation to keep blogging!

The highest-traffic day on the blog in 2012 (with about 1,900 views) was June 14, 2012 when I announced that I’d begin driving a new 2013 Acura ILX 6-speed.

Thanks again, and here’s to open roads, green lights, and more exciting Acura adventures in 2013!

The rest of the report, prepared by WordPress:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 66,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

2013 is sure to be a banner year in your travels Tyson. I especially enjoy enlarging the pictures that you take and post. Each has a significant story and I enjoy both your commentary as well as the beautiful pictures. I’m looking forward to another trunk lid signing ceremony when our paths cross again at NALM 2013.

  2. Your last blog of 2012 would not be complete without a comment from your #1 fan, would it? You can run vicariously through me if I can drive vicariously through you. Here is to 2013 and the many roads ahead of us….and moving forward, always forward!

    • Onward, ever onward, right? Grandpa called me about a McGregor family reunion in Moses Lake later this year. Maybe that’ll end up translating into a road trip opportunity? I haven’t been to the Spokane area in a couple of years.

  3. Thanks for the shout out Tyson! Here is wishing you and your family a great new year in 2013, and hopefully we will be able to spend some time together sometime in the next 365 days.

    • Yes, absolutely! If it isn’t a NALM that brings us together it’ll have to be something else. I’m determined to make it to the Seattle area sometime in 2013. Happy new year.

  4. I don’t think the legend design will ever age. I mean you can tell it is older because of the thinner A-pillars and stuff but it doesn’t look “old”.

Though that could just be me still beating myself up about letting my 92 LS go.

    • I totally agree with you. I was just commenting with a friend the other day about how it seems like the 2001-2003 Acura CL has “aged” so much more in the last 10 years than the Legend coupe has in 20. What are you driving now?

      • 2008 ES350 got it march 31 2012 with 103,000 yesterday hit 123,456.
Of all of the cars I have owned so far this is by far the largest letdown from an engineering perspective, and interestingly, for a Toyota product, a reliability let down as well the OEM trans went at 112,000 and since then the car has seen 2 remanufactured transmissions both of which had massive leaks now she has a Lexus genuine remanufactured unit and it is a bit better. But now she is consuming coolant and I found motor oil inside my exhaust tips I am thinking a leaking head gasket……….. Toyota maintains the vibrations are a combination of motor mounts and out of balanced axles. She is going back to Lexus of Chandler on Friday. Also when did replacement parts get so expensive for 3 of the 4 mounts and 2 axles it came to 1850 in parts. :O

  5. Happy bday Tyson! You and I share the same month. I am always envious of that Az skyline and that balloon ride looked pretty awesome!

  6. Happy New Year Tyson.

That Legend looks fantastic. What a great name for a car.

Any plans to visit the Eastern part of the country in 2013? The Blu RIdge Parkway and the Overseas Highway await your travels 😉

    Carlos

    • Thanks Carlos! Both of the roads you’ve mentioned are on my to-drive list now. I’m hoping 2013 gives me the chance to make it out there. Hope the new year is treating you well. And likewise – do holler the next time you make it out to the southwest US!
