Friday Photo Challenge – Cast Your Vote!
Odometer (Legend): 529,106
Odometer (ILX): 72,982
Of course it rained the day after I washed the Grand Canyon dirt off my ILX. Oh well.
I love photo scavenger hunts, so I created one. On February 7, 2009, I went for a scenic cruise in northern Utah’s Cache Valley on a brisk sunny day. My 1994 Acura Legend had 364,980 miles on it at the time. I stopped to take this series of pictures. The location didn’t really have any significance. I probably just felt like pulling over to document the scenic mountain range in the background. The intersection was 1950 North, 200 West, in Logan, Utah.
The idea struck me. How closely could my friend Ryan duplicate the photo with the street signs, 5 years later?
I sent it to him, to my mom, and to my friend Tyler. Let’s see how they did.
Original
Ryan’s Audi
Mom’s Lexus
Tyler’s Honda
Who gets the prize?
I guess I should decide what the prize is, too.
Have a great weekend, all.

Mom’s Lexus for the stop sign is the closest to how it was in your picture!
April 5, 2014 at 6:02 am
Agreed – it looks like she did the best at composition!
April 5, 2014 at 8:36 pm
Great pick! 😉
April 4, 2014 at 6:06 pm
yup, mom’s Lexus for being so close – but Tyler’s car is my first choice as the one I wish I had!
April 5, 2014 at 6:02 am
Isn’t that Accord a beauty? It’s got < 100k miles on it, too. I need to get Tyler to share some more pics of that with us.
April 7, 2014 at 4:32 pm
Yes Tyler – get on that!
April 5, 2014 at 8:37 pm
Sweet! Thanks for the vote!
April 4, 2014 at 7:08 pm
ditto, mom’s lexus. although it’s the wrong time of day.
April 5, 2014 at 6:03 am
Haha, perhaps. If you’re ever passing through northern Utah, swing by 1950 N 200 W in Logan and give it a whirl!
April 5, 2014 at 8:38 pm
Two thumbs up!
April 5, 2014 at 6:19 pm
Mom by just a tad. The original has the stop sign post obscuring one of the fence posts. Mom came closest to replicating that.l

Haha, indeed Tony – thanks for weighing in. I’m sure she will be thrilled that you picked her!
April 7, 2014 at 5:27 am
No details left unnoticed! 🙂
April 5, 2014 at 7:16 pm
GOTTA give it to Tia!
April 5, 2014 at 8:35 pm
Awwww… Thanks Dave! Like mother, like son I guess!
April 5, 2014 at 8:34 pm
Yes, Tia did the best at duplicating the photo Tyson took.
April 6, 2014 at 9:48 am
Yes she did! It seems she’s got a keen eye for composition. I’m just waiting for her to create a photo challenge for me next.
April 5, 2014 at 8:35 pm
That was a lot of fun. I won’t reveal how many times I moved my car in an attempt to get it right. Haha. I wish I had seen Ryan and Tyler out there standing in the street like I was.
April 6, 2014 at 9:49 am
It was worth the effort! You mastered it. I’ll get back to you on that prize.
April 7, 2014 at 12:39 pm
Tia, next time we will have to work together. I’ll find some road cones and close off the road so we can take our time and do it properly! 😉
April 8, 2014 at 5:30 am
You’re on! I dodged a few random cars and a jogger while I was at this location.
April 6, 2014 at 8:42 am
So what’s the prize? You giving away one of you cars?
April 6, 2014 at 9:49 am
I don’t know. A wax job for the GS430? Lunch on me? I’ll have to ponder that.
April 7, 2014 at 5:28 am
I am getting the GS430 waxed tomorrow, professionally! So it will have to be lunch. 🙂
April 6, 2014 at 5:15 pm
Mom’s Lexus gets my vote! 🙂
April 6, 2014 at 10:05 pm
I’m sure she appreciates that vote, Jason! Looks like she is the clear winner here based on the responses 🙂
April 7, 2014 at 5:29 am
Thanks Jason! Now I shall have to find a recreation opportunity for Tyson!
April 7, 2014 at 12:37 pm
Ryan nailed the stop sign placement in the mountains, as well as the building placement, but Tia got the horizontal angle including the hotel on the left. Well done!
April 7, 2014 at 12:38 pm
You did ace the stop sign placement. This exercise was a lot more difficult than it initially seemed!
April 8, 2014 at 5:32 am
I actually felt that Ryan’s shot had more similarities than mine, but that just means I have to take him to lunch again to celebrate our accomplishments.
