RNR Auto Blog Review: 1994 Legend Coupe & Sedan
Odometer (Legend): 531,579
Odometer (ILX): 99,300
My buddy Ruben’s at it again!
Take a drive on over to RNR Automotive Blog and check out his recent review & photos of my 1994 Acura Legends.
This is the third in a series of reviews Ruben has done on my cars:
- 2013 ILX 2.4 Review – April 2014
- 1992 NSX Review – May 2014
Thanks again Ruben for the feature!
Just for kicks today:
You all know how much I love re-creating old pics — as in, staging a shot that’s in the same location, with the same background, with as many of the same conditions as possible. On my way to Long Beach for JCCS a couple of weeks ago, I stopped in Desert Center for a picture of the ILX at this run-down gas station.
Two days later, my friend Jack happened to be traveling along that same stretch of road and he copied my picture by parking his red 2002 Lexus IS300 in the same spot. Ha! Nicely done, Jack.

That review makes me like the second generation Legend coupe even more. What is the name of the paint color? Is this the same color that was offered in 1994 by Acura?

Yes it’s the factory original paint color. “Desert Mist Metallic” – code # YR-506M. You should definitely consider picking up a 1991-95 Legend coupe!

His reviews seem detailed and honest, pointing out his true opinions of the pros/cons in each case. Cool photography, and your cars are looking good as always!

Yeah we had fun getting those pics – it’s always fun to drive around town with both Legends in tandem to see if fellow drivers even notice! Hope your Friday evening is going well!

99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottle of uhh… miles on the clock! Wow that got there quick. Congrats, big milestone coming up and soon after that you’ll pass me!!
I wonder, what year did you put the most miles on in your ILX and Legend coupe? Some numbers to crunch if you already haven’t.
Great review also. Keep up the good work, both of you!
Hope the weekend is off to a great beginning!

That’s a great question. I’ll have to refer to my spreadsheet and figure out what year I had the highest mileage accumulation. I know for a fact that I had a MONTH where I did almost 10,000. It was in 2006 when I did the 8,000 mile trip to Alaska & back…

Any upcoming plans for the Legend coupe? Are you going to replace the clutch?
October 12, 2014 at 7:06 am
I was just thinking about starting to price out clutches. I probably should. OEM Legend clutches are $$$$. I also realized the car is due for an oil change so I’ll probably get that taken care of in the next couple of weeks.

You might want to price out flywheels too, just in case it has excessive scoring or hot spots. Hopefully resurfacing will do the trick though. With a new clutch, that Legend will be ready to complete the million mile marathon! Just think what Acura headquarters will do then….

A new clutch! FINALLY ! Another good video by Ruben. It sounds like the photo recreation bug is contagious and catching on!

Definitely! I’ll have to think of another pic for Jack (or any of my readers) to re-create.
