Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car Magazine: November 2014 Feature
Odometer (Legend): 531,614

My pride and joy just made the cover of a magazine, and I’m absolutely thrilled. Some of you may remember when I met up with photographer Jeff Koch from Hemmings earlier this year. Well, the fruits of Jeff’s labors – and those of his colleague Mark McCourt who put together the written copy – came together in a feature story for the November 2014 issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car.
My 1994 Acura Legend coupe was featured along with two other cars: A 1972 Citroen SM and 1984 Volkswagen GTI. Each vehicle has achieved impressive mileage thanks to diligent care & maintenance over the years.
Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car launched in 2005 with a focus on collector cars built outside the U.S. Its ‘parent’ publication, Hemmings Motor News, has been around since the mid-1950’s and is widely considered to be one of the core magazines of the collector car industry. It sells 215,000 copies per month. Many thanks to Jeff and to Mark for the opportunity to participate in such a cool story. More here, too, at this Hemmings blog entry.

Congratulations, Tyson!!! I will pick up that issue. My 1990 Legend LS has only reached 227,000 miles. I have years to go! It had 8 miles on it when I bought it in 1990.

Sandi, that’s great! It’s rare to meet a Legend’s ORIGINAL owner. Congratulations on 227,000 and here’s to many more miles. Thanks for reading the blog. I’d love to see some pictures of your car.

Very nice writeup in the Hemmings article. The man who wrote the article is a great writer. I did not know you have gone thru 5 windshields in your Legend. That is a lot! 😉

Thanks – I’m sure Mark will appreciate that (and I fully agree). Indeed, 5 windshields! Dang those interstate rock chips.

Your coupe air filter box is still missing the OEM sticker on it! Shame on you!

Ooops. And you even sent me a new one! Shame for sure. I must redeem myself by NALM 2015.

i’ve driven 2 of the 3 in that article – I’ve heard the Citroen experience is very unique . . . one of these days!

Yeah, can’t say I’ve driven a Citroen but I’ve driven a “newer” GTI and it was loads of fun.

I was actually unaware the Legend had “soft close door actuators” I would probably over use that feature if I had that…
October 15, 2014 at 5:44 am
Yeah, it does! Pretty unique features for its time. Although, that feature only came on the coupe and not the sedan. Go figure.

A much-deserved great article! Congrats once again Tyson!

Thanks, Dave! It’s hard to believe this mileage madness started about a decade ago with that inaugural NALM voyage. Time flies.

Congratulations, Tyson! Hemmings is a big deal in the auto world, and your car deserved this feature. I look forward to reading it when I pick up a copy this weekend.
