I know the mileage-mania has gone too far when even my mom is posting things like this on Facebook:

mon_contest

She’s recently picked up a hot little red 2010 Volkswagen EOS convertible and she’s already racking up the miles AND offering gift card prizes to her friends who most closely guess the date & location of her 50,000-mile rollover.  Did you notice the 44 mile per hour speed to align with the 44,444 odometer?  Now, if only she’d hit that at 4:44 p.m. and with 44.4 on the trip meter.  Keep trying, mom!

(Her car is at right, and the other one is its twin – owned & driven by my aunt Connie)

Now for today’s feature:

Bring out those spy cams.  My readers have been at it again.  I present to you, in alphabetical order by submitter, the latest in Acura Legend spy pics from around the country.  It’s only been 3 months since the last Spy Shot Roundup, but there were FIFTY (5-0!) pictures submitted since then so I figured it was time to go ahead and post the latest ones for you all to see.

Special features!  Jason in New Mexico captured a 1987 Chevy Celebrity Classic, much like my first car.  It even had the same vinyl roof.  Bonus points, Jason!

Nice! I keep on trying to get good shots of ‘spotted’ Legends while I’m driving, but they always manage to come out blurry or out of focus… my smartphone camera skills are nothing to write home about!

I know you’ve got me in the odometer photo habit over the years. I’ll have to post it sometime soon, but I did get one with 33,333.3 on my ‘new’ 1988 Celica.

  2. JoeHansen Says:

man, kudos to all these spots. i had no idea how many are in az.

  3. I always have my head on a swivel looking for Acuras driving by. Not many in my area but it always puts a smile on my face when I do spot one.

  4. Of course this warrants a post by me. I guess my message, being your mother, would be to drive safely! Having your head on a swivel is okay but staying focused on 12 o’clock is a good idea! Even as I type this, I see an ILX on the road just ahead of me. Wink.

  5. And one more thing. You posted the above sightings from your friends alphabetically by their first names. You’re killing me.

  6. Awwww, I didn’t know I still needed to send you pictures!! Hell, I could send you at least 2 Legends a day!!

  7. Chris Green Says:

Hey I just saw that one of my shots (a Vigor) made it in here! I’ll have to send you more sightings — I didn’t know they get published! I have a few newer ones, for sure!

    • Yes your Vigor shot made the cut! As I recall, it was parked behind a big old station wagon in the original pic before I cropped it! Thanks keeping an eye out 🙂
