Legend Spy Shot Roundup #8
Greetings!
I guess I might as well kick this draft post out the door. I’ve added a few photos tonight that tallied it up to an even 80 Legend sightings. My last Roundup was posted on April 20th. So in fewer than four months, I’ve received 120 total cars. That comes out to a little more than one car per day hitting my cell phone or email. Here today, courtesy of you my readers and friends, I bring you:
- 80 Legends
- 11 NSXs
- 11 Vigors
- 3 TLs
- 3 ILXs
- 7 Preludes
- 1 CL
- 1 RSX
- 1 Integra
- 1 EL
- 1 European Accord
A few winners to feature as we kick things off:
My favorite picture in the lineup is brought to you by Rob, who had traveled to Hawaii for work and who made a special visit to the local Acura dealership in Maui to pick me up a license plate. Thanks, Rob!
Second place goes to James, who even during his vacation in Paris this summer, managed to find a pretty nice looking second-generation coupe. I wonder if this car is still there. As of July 1st (just a little after James’ trip), all cars older than 1997 were banned in Paris as a smog-control measure. Yikes.
And I can’t remember who sent me this one (pipe up!), but it somehow captured both a Legend and a 2016+ ILX in the same frame. Nice snag!
Here are the remainder of the Legends, in random order.
Here we go with the NSXs
And the Vigors
A few TLs
Some ILXs
A handful of Preludes
And everything else!
Whew! Thanks for playing!

Hey, Tyson, Here’s one more – my one-owner 1990 Legend bought new February, 1990. It now has moved four doors down to my neighbor to make room for my 2016 MDX.

Hi Sandy, wow, your neighbor got a real cream puff! Unfortunately the photo isn’t coming through on my end but I’d love to see it. My email address is listed in the “ABOUT” page on this blog. Congratulations on your new 2016 MDX! Those are amazing vehicles.

Nearly one shot a day! That’s a pretty impressive following, Mr Hugie! I’ll have to keep my eyes open and see if I can catch some more shots before the next roundup.

Haha, thanks Adam! If people are going to go to the effort to take & send me photos, I have to do something with them! So that’s how this tradition started. Quirky but whatever – I’m a little weird anyway! Hope your week is going well!

So does anyone else see the irony where a country like France (along with Europe in general) predominantly own diesel cars who typically outnumber petrol engines by more than 2 to 1 banning older gas cars?
They’re choosing to ban some of the cleanest engine cars of a generation. Granted they may not be as clean as a new car but certainly cleaner than comparable and newer diesels.
In fact according to air-quality.org.uk:
http://www.air-quality.org.uk/26.php
“…when compared to petrol cars with a catalyst, diesels have higher emissions of NOx and much higher emissions of particulate matter.”
In conclusion I vote NALM avoid France completely when it proposes to hold it’s European tour next year 😉
BTW, I’m a little disappointed by the absence of any TSX sightings and pics…

Haha, well, it’s time for everyone to step up their game with respect to finding TSXs out on the roadways. Your comments about diesel vs. petrol are very intriguing! I hadn’t thought of the comparison before now, but it sounds like the French should perhaps have taken this into consideration. If Arizona ever adopted a policy like the “no-pre-1997” thing, it would effectively make 5/6ths of my fleet obsolete. Devastating!

Cool post! It would be interesting to see a geographical breakdown of where these cars are being seen. I’d bet most are not in the snow belt.

Hi Tim, I know! When I first started putting these summaries together, I used to try and include the photographer’s name and location. It just got a little out of control! I suppose it would be possible to create a database for all the ones that have visible license plates, tracking which states are represented. But that takes this analysis to a whole new level that I’m not ready for!

After this post, I’ll just have to flood your phone with random Acura pix. lol. Nice to see there’s still a few good looking Legends around.
August 10, 2016 at 3:28 pm
Haha, you know I’ll ALWAYS get a kick out of people send me random car pics throughout the day. Bring it on.

SECOND PLACE! Where’s my trophy?! Hollar! That’s too many cars to keep track of… I don’t know how you do it.
August 10, 2016 at 4:10 pm
Haha, well, second place is better than nothing! I mean, how can you compete with someone who made a special trip to the Acura dealership while in Hawaii to bring me back a souvenir! Now that was just thoughtful as could be! Though, your Paris Legend made the rounds among my friends. Chris Miller sent it to a few dozen people, I think. GOOD FIND!

We definitely have to do something about this lack of pictures of TSXs. 😉 That next to last light blue car I thought was a TSX. But I realized it was a European Accord by its wheels. The 2004 to 2005 TSXs have much nicer stock wheels in my opinion.
August 11, 2016 at 12:48 pm
Hi Carlos, you’re absolutely right! The TSX wheels are superior to the Euro Accord’s. Well, feel free to participate by sending me any noteworthy Acuras or Hondas in your area 🙂

Those Honda Preludes are very rare to see down here in South Florida.
August 17, 2016 at 8:20 am
I think they’re getting pretty rare ANYWHERE! The Prelude has now been discontinued for a full 15 years so they will become tougher and tougher to spot.
August 17, 2016 at 6:23 am
YES! I see that terrible Dallas CL that needed a rescue.
August 17, 2016 at 8:20 am
Of course! That was worthy of a feature! You don’t see those first-generation CL models very often anymore.
August 31, 2016 at 5:38 pm
I think the Legend and ILX might have been sent by me. Looks like the freeway home from work.
January 30, 2017 at 6:53 am
I wouldn’t be surprised! You’re always great about sending shots in. I have been slacking off but I probably have enough pics collected now for another Roundup. Hope your weekend went well!
January 30, 2017 at 3:19 pm
Are we welcome to send you pics of Legends Tyson? Or are you looking for cars of people you know?
January 30, 2017 at 12:58 am
Thank you for keeping the Legend legendary. It’s an important job and I’m not joking around, even though I could be 😉
January 30, 2017 at 6:54 am
Haha, this is definitely NOT an important job but I still get a kick out of doing it!
